TORAY - ULTRASUEDE
Overview:
”Ultrasuede has evolved to an environmentally friendly material, with the use of recycled polyester, obtained by advanced technologies to efficiently recover waste from film, while maintaining its high quality”.
Ingredient information:
Ultrasuede fabric reduces the reliance on petroleum-derived ingredients by featuring ultra-microfibre made with recycled polyester and plant-based polymers.
Sustainability credentials:
Through Ultrasuede, Toray helps to achieve a carbon-neutral network by applying a chemical recycling system and sourcing its raw materials from plant-based polymers.
Toray has replaced 30 percent of the polyester fibre used to make Ultrasuede HP fabric with plant-based fibre. This plant-based fibre is made from a by-product of sugarcane processing — the non-edible waste that would otherwise be discarded.
Application and use:
Ultrasuede uses include fashion, footwear, interior decorating, automobile and vehicle upholstery and protective fabric for electronic equipment. It feels like suede leather but is machine washable and resistant to pilling, sagging, shrinking, and fading.
