Data on fur

No fur, even undyed fur, is completely biodegradable. Even in controlled test conditions, undyed fur was nearly 75% non-degraded.

One mink fur coat is about 6 times more impactful on the climate than an animal-free, faux fur coat, even when including disposal.

One fox pelt is equal to 83kg of carbon equivalent emissions. In contrast, even a polyester t-shirt is equal to a much smaller 5.5kg.

The carbon footprint of one fox skin is equal to the footprint of an average Finnish consumer over three days.

Producing one kilogram of mink fur is equal to driving a car for more than 1,250 kilometres, at 110kg of CO2e emissions.

1kg of fur is equal to 11 animals, who are fed 563kg of feed before they are killed. This is an inefficient system of production.
